The Golden State Warriors have won an overtime thriller in the opening game of the NBA Finals.

The clash, which is the first time that Australians have faced each other in the NBA’s decider, went to five minutes of overtime with the Warriors beating the Cleveland Cavaliers, 108-100.

LeBron James had a game-high 44 points while NBA MVP Steph Curry had 26 points and eight assists.

Golden State's Australian centre Andrew Bogut, who started strongly with two blocks including one to deny James, finished with four points, seven rebounds and three assists. His Boomers teammate Matthew Dellavedova had three assists in just over nine minutes of time on court after coming off the bench for the Cavaliers.
