US driver cheats death by flying tyre

Dashcam video of a flying tyre smashing through a driver's window while he cruised down a US highway earlier this week has been posted online.

According to comments posted on the internet by the owner of the vehicle, a car on the opposite side of the road lost control and spun out, sending the loose tyre hurtling over the divider into the westbound lane.

The 4WD about 20m in front of the unlucky driver deftly swerves to avoid the flying rubber, opening up our man behind for a direct hit.

Fortunately only his windscreen, and presumably the rest of his day, were ruined.
