First adult images of Bin Laden's son on wedding video

A newly-released video shows the first adult images of Osama Bin Laden's favourite son and touted successor.

This week the US Central Intelligence Agency released 460,000 files from the trove of intelligence recovered when the US military killed Bin Laden during a raid on his Pakistan hideout in 2011.

The latest release included 18,000 documents, 79,000 audio files and images and more than 10,000 videos, reports the BBC.

The videos include footage from the wedding of Bin Laden's favourite son Hamza - believed to be his father's favourite son and regarded as a future Al-Qaeda leader.

Expert analysis of objects in the clip suggest it was filmed in Iran.

Until this video emerged, only childhood videos of Hamza had been publicly released.

Bin Laden himself is not seen in the video but one of the wedding attendees says that the "father of the groom, the prince of the mujahideen" is joyous at his son's marriage and his joy will "spread to all the mujahideen", AP said.

In recent years, Hamza has become something of a 'poster boy' for Al-Qaeda.

An image of him as a boy was superimposed on a picture of the burning New York World Trade Centre and the terrorist group has released audio messages from him threatening the US and its allies such as Saudi Arabia.

CIA director Mike Pompeo said the release of the files highlighted the "plans and workings of this terrorist organisation".
