Dramatic video shows car flying into second storey of building

A drugged-up driver has become airborne and wedged his car into the second storey of a building in the US.

A local television station obtained CCTV footage from outside the Aqua Motel in Santa Ana, California, of the accident, which happened early on Saturday morning.

It shows the car speed across an intersection, hit the central reservation and fly into the air.

The car then crashes into the second storey of a dentist's office, lodges there and catches on fire, narrowly missing being hit by a bus.

The driver admitted taking drugs to police, and is still in hospital after suffering minor injuries.

Emergency workers rescued one of the car's two occupants, while the other was able to escape. 

No one was in the dentist's office at the time.
