White House evacuated after man jumps fence

The White House was evacuated this morning after an intruder was spotted.

US President Barack Obama had only just left the grounds with his daughter before part of the White House was evacuated, reports say.

Media were evacuated from the building.

A number of reports said a man had jumped the fence.

A witness video showed a man running on the grounds without being tackled by security.

CNN said media were allowed back in soon after the evacuation and that the threat appeared to be contained.

Mr Obama had earlier today unveiled an anti-domestic violence campaign at the White House before departing for the presidential retreat of Camp David with his daughter Sasha and one of her friends.
