Victim of attempted carjacking holds suspect at gunpoint until police arrive

A suspected carjacker in Atlanta, Georgia, had the tables turned on him when his victim forced him out of the car at gunpoint.

Hashim Fannin, the owner of the car, had just pulled into a car spot at a local shop when he says the man jumped into his passenger seat.

“He told me, ‘You know what this is’,” Mr Fannin said.

Before his attacker could say another word, Mr Fannin drew a small pistol and forced the man, 61-year-old Edgar Horn, out of the car.

He told Horn to get on the ground and then held him at gun point until the police arrive.

Amateur vision recorded by a witness shows Mr Fannin yelling at Horn, who pleaded his innocence while sprawled on the road.

“You were not trying to rob me? You just get into random peoples cars?” Mr Fannin can be heard shouting.

Horn denied the accusations, saying he thought Mr Fannin was a friend.

Fannin, still pointing the gun at the suspect on the ground, wasn’t convinced.

“So you went to bed and woke up stupid this morning huh?” he yelled.

“So you thought I had a ‘rob me’ sign on me?”

The video shows Mr Fannin waving police over when they arrive and calmly putting his gun on the ground.

One of the policemen can be seen shaking Mr Fannin’s hand before the other handcuffs the suspect.

Mr Fannin, speaking to WSB-TV 2, said that he is glad the man is off the streets.

“I look at it like this, that is one less guy I have to worry about bothering my mum when she’s out grocery shopping,” he said.

Horn is facing attempted robbery charges and is expected to appear in court tomorrow.
