US teacher arrested after allegedly shooting ex-husband’s new girlfriend in front of her children

A school teacher in the US has been arrested after allegedly shooting her ex-husband’s girlfriend to death as her children watched.

Chelsea Watrous Cook, 32, from Salt Lake City in Utah was held for aggravated murder.

According to reports, she went to her ex partner’s apartment to give one of her children medicine before pulling out a gun and shooting Lisa Vilate Williams, 26, in the torso, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.

Williams later died in hospital.

Cook’s three-year-old twins witnessed the shooting, her ex-husband told police.

He said she went into the apartment while he was in the car park and refused to leave.

Cook allegedly locked herself in the bathroom before emerging and shooting the victim a reported three to five times.
