Naked man rescued after three days stuck in theatre wall

A man has been rescued three days after he became trapped in the wall of a theatre in the USA.

Staff at the Landmark Theatre in Syracuse, New York, heard someone banging on the wall at 7.30am Friday (local time).

Firefighters then used a fibre optic camera to locate the naked man in the wall of the theatre.

Firefighters had to use a sledgehammer to knock down the wall where the man was trapped.

"It is not clear how exactly he gained access to the area behind the wall," the Syracuse Fire Department said in a statement.

Firefighters then sliced away several layers of drywall and structural clay tile to rescue him.

He was taken to the nearby Upstate University Hospital for treatment.

His condition is not currently known.

The Landmark Theatre is a historic cinema which first opened in 1928.
