'The devil was in the house': US teacher blames Satan for bizarre, racist rant

A US teacher who made racist comments during a graduation ceremony has blamed “the devil” for her rant.

Nancy Gordeuk was leading the ceremony at an Atlanta area private school TNT Academy when she accidentally announced the session had concluded before the final speaker, the class valedictorian, had delivered his address.

She quickly backtracked and attempted to keep her audience with the final speaker on stage waiting patiently beside her.

Increasingly frazzled, the school’s founder called a departing attendee a “coward”.

“You are being so rude to not listen to this speech,” she said. “It was my fault.”

But she wasn’t finished: “Look who’s leaving – all the black people”.

The auditorium then erupted into shouts and protests.

The comment, captured on video, also sparked outrage on social media with calls for her resignation.

However, the teacher has since explained her tirade with, “The devil was in the house and came out of my mouth”, according to The Washington Post.

She has since apologised via an email to school students and parents.
