US service station worker wrestles gun off would-be robber

A service station worker has fought off a would-be robber in Maryland, with CCTV capturing the moment he wrenched a shotgun off his attacker.

The armed man stormed the Frederick 7-Eleven early last Tuesday, but retreated empty-handed after the worker wrestled his weapon away, the Frederick News-Post reported.

Video shows the worker serving two customers as the would-be robber approaches.

He can then be seen snatching the shotgun and eventually tearing it away from the attacker, who then turns and flees.

“[The man] pointed it at my employee and started screaming at my employee, screaming in his facem and [my employee] grabbed [the gun] and took it out of the guy’s hands,” store owner Abdul Ayub told the Frederick News-Post.

Police investigating the robber later found that the shotgun was not loaded at the time.

An 18-year-old man was taken into custody the following day and has since been charged with attempted armed robbery.
