US boy had guns, machetes stowed for school shooting: police

US police seized guns and machetes from a high school student’s bedroom after being tipped off by a classmate about a mass shooting threat.

The alleged plot on a Pennsylvania campus was uncovered on Thursday, reports ABC News.

The incident comes days after mass school shootings in Kentucky and Texas.

Pennsylvania State Police were alerted by a report that a teenager on a school bus had discussed four students he disliked at Uniontown Area Senior High School, Fayette County District Attorney Richard Bower said.

The student who reported the episode recorded it, he added.
After interviewing the 14-year-old suspect and his parents at his home, officers determined the student was "threatening to come to school today with weapons with rifles and shoot four students," Bower said.

The suspect explained it would be easy to sneak a gun into the school in his backpack. He also indicated he could use a sniper rifle from a distance or a shotgun to inflict mass casualties.

Bower said police a semi-automatic rifle, a shotgun, two machetes, throwing knives, two lever-action rifles, a revolver, a cross bow, "and bulk ammunition for all of the weapons".

The teenager remains in custody.
