US family claim to have captured chupacabra

A US family believes they have captured the mysterious goat-killing chupacabra.

Jackie Stock and her husband Arlen Parma claim to have captured the mythical creature on their Ratcliffe, Texas property on Sunday.

"He called me to come and look, and I said 'Bubba that looks like a baby chupacabra," Ms Stock told KAVU-TV.

Many people claim to have spotted the legendary cryptid, which folklore says kills goats and cattle, but its existence has never been proven.

Mr Parma said he has hunted for 20 years but isn't sure what kind of animal it is.

The couple are currently awaiting confirmation that the dark hairless animal is in fact the elusive creature.

But Texas Parks and Wildlife biologist Brent Ortego says it was likely a dog, fox or coyote and there was no truth to the legend.

"It's never been proven to be a unique species," he said.

"It was always something out there that allegedly was said to cause harm to people or life stock."
