US Congresswoman cannot park

A US congresswoman has inadvertently shown the world that she cannot park and doesn't care who knows it.

Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton, who represents the district of Washington DC, was filmed trying to park her car — yes, trying — in the US capital without much success.

The 77-year-old politician was driving nose-in to a spot but failed to get her car anywhere near the correct 45-degree angle.

Holmes gave a few love taps to red ute parked next to her as incredulous onlookers filmed the abomination of a park job.

"If she parks like that she should not be a member of Congress anymore," a witness remarks.

Despite having a young suited man try to guide her in to the spot, Holmes just gives up and leaves her car where it is.

She then returns to the vehicle — not to leave an apology, but to grab something from her silver hatchback, Roll Call reports.

"She hit the car next to her and did not leave a note, though I couldn't see any damage," one witness said.

A spokesperson for the politician said: "The Congresswoman heard from the owner of the only car she was close enough to damage. The owner reported no damage."

The amateur attempt at parking will do no favours for America's politicians, already unpopular and seen as out of touch with regular people.
