Student-teacher basketball game ends with assault charge after man brutally slams woman

A student-teacher basketball game at a Florida primary school ended with police being called after a campus employee picked up a female teacher and slammed her to the ground yesterday.

Surveillance video of the incident shows 27-year-old Travis Mims and teacher, Katherine Martin, 33, jostling for position at the offensive end of the court during a game of two-on-two.

The pair run across the court, making physical contact the whole time, when Mims suddenly picks up the teacher, who is considerably smaller than him, lifts her to about shoulder height, and smashes her into the ground.

Ms Martin's body bounces sickeningly off the pine upon impact; police say she landed on her head.

Martin, who admitted to the attack, claims that he was reacting to a foul committed by Ms Martin.

Mims, who has been suspended with pay while the matter is investigated, is free after posting $3200 bail.
