Showboating man on tricycle almost killed after drifting into oncoming car

An American man showing off for the camera by drifting his tricycle down a steep road came within inches of death when he lost control and slid into the path of an oncoming car.

It was all going well for the helmet-free rider until he took his hands off the handlebars to adjust the attached camera.

The momentary lapse may have almost been fatal as the tricycle's back wheels spun around uncontrollably with an SUV heading straight for him.

Footage of the crash shot by a friend further down the street, shows the man sliding down the street backwards when the car slams into the tricycle, destroying it and knocking over the rider.

The large vehicle obliterates the tricycle but only grazes the back of its driver.

Amazingly the showboating cyclist escaped from the smash with nothing more serious than a scratch.

"Scared me more than anything," the lucky rider said.

It is unclear when the incident occurred but it was first posted online on September 2.
