Porn-star student defers after death threats

The US university student who admitted to becoming a porn star to pay for her tuition is taking time away from her studies after being harassed and threatened by fellow students.

Duke University student Belle Knox has deferred her studies following protracted harassment and "slut-shaming" from her fellow co-eds on campus.

"I am still getting death threats," Knox said in an interview with FOX411.

"I've had people threaten to throw trash on me."

Knox was outed as a by a fellow student after writing about her experience working as a porn star on the website xoJane.

But life on campus has become too much for the young X-rated actress as students of both sexes have turned on her, making her feel unsafe.

"I think that women resent me more but I do get a lot of the slut-shaming from guys."

Knox, a self-described feminist, said she was being supported by friends and did not expect anyone to feel sorry for her.

She also warned others not to follow in her footsteps.

"If I could give advice for any person who was choosing college, I would honestly advise them to go to a cheaper school," she said.

Knox said she made around 25 to 30 videos — enough to cover this year's tuition at North Carolina-based Duke ‐ but her recent rise in notoriety might also mean a rise in her performance fees.
