Politician filmed eating earwax

A US Congressman may have unwittingly channelled Kevin Rudd when he was filmed picking his ear and inspecting the find before devouring it.

Florida Democrat Joe Garcia was filmed indulging in the mid-hearing treat as his colleague Washington Democrat Suzan DeIbene addressed a House Judiciary Committee on the government's surveillance program overnight, Gawker reports.

The gesture will be familiar to Australian viewers after Kevin Rudd was filmed eating his earwax while still he was an opposition backbencher in the early 2000s.

The clip resurfaced in 2007 shortly after Rudd became leader of the opposition.

While earwax eating is not a good look with many constituents Mr Garcia may be able to take comfort in the fact that the embarrassing clip did not damage Mr Rudd's career.
