"My body was preparing itself to die".

That's how Sidney Good, 17, the victim of a horrific parasailing accident, which saw her slam into two buildings as well as overhead power lines, has described the days following her crash.

Good was parasailing with her best friend Alexis Fairchild in July last year when the line broke away from the boat they were tethered to, and sent the pair crashing into buildings, parked cars and power lines.

Witnesses who managed to capture the ordeal on film said they heard the girls screaming before slamming into a building. Then their bodies went limp.

The accident left Good with a cracked spinal cord and severe brain trauma.

Now the pretty teenager has spoken for the first time since the life-changing crash, telling ABC News America that she's just thankful to be coming home after spending months in hospital.

"I'm blessed to be doing as well as I am," Good said.

The teenager admits she remembers very little of the crash: "I remember seeing the people on the balcony we hit, I remember them kind of grabbing for me and then after that I blacked out."

Although she has finally been discharged from hospital, doctors have warned Good that she will suffer long-term health issues from the accident, including double vision and a loss of peripheral vision.

Good has credited her faith with helping her to stay strong during her recovery.

Meanwhile, the family of Good's friend Alexis Fairchild, who also sustained several injuries in the crash although none quite as severe as Good's, is now planning to sue the parasailing company behind the accident.
