Over 30 vehicles involved in massive snow-covered pile-up on New York highway

An US war veteran has filmed a massive traffic pile-up on a New York highway involving over 30 vehicles, including several semi-trailers and tractors.

The vision, which shows twisted metal as far as the eye can see, was posted online just hours ago by Ian Wags with the simple caption: "I'm unscathed!"

"I got a little scratch on my finger and that's it," Mr Wags says as he commentates on the scene, which shows wreck after snow-covered wreck.

He also notes that it is a year to the day since he went out on patrol in Iraq.

"I guess you could call his is 'Alive Day' number two, huh?" he says.

Interstate 81 has been shut down near Ellisburg and Watertown in the northern part of the state, with no fatalities being reported so far.
