Video shows moving house, Amish style

When your religion bans the use of a technology, moving an entire house has to be done the old fashioned way – by hand.

A small Amish community have been filmed picking up a building and heaving it across a property in the small Pennsylvania town of Spartanburg.

Dozens of legs belonging to the 80-odd workers can be seen underneath the structure creating a comical sight for the person – presumably not Amish – who captured the scene on a camera phone.

Showing that many hands make light work, the "movers" skilfully walk the house up a slope and position it carefully on the new concrete slab.

According to a local website, the Spartanburg Amish community believe in a simple life and shun the need for electricity and modern tools – apparently including cranes.
