A convicted US child molester may spend the rest of his life in prison after allegedly following a 14-year-old Australian girl on Twitter.

Ed Kramer, co-founder of the popular sci-fi convention Dragon Con, is serving a five-year sentence via house arrest in Duluth, Georgia, after last year pleading guilty to child molestation counts involving three boys aged 13 to 15.

Under the plea deal, Kramer was ordered to stay away from anyone aged 16 or younger or face a maximum jail sentence of 60 years.

Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter is investigating whether 53-year-old Kramer violated his house arrest by following a person on Twitter identifying themselves as a 14-year-old girl from Brisbane.

"I'm looking into this," Porter told the Gwinnett Daily Post.

Kramer represented himself on Twitter as a Brooklyn, New York-based editor, writer and producer and followed almost 2000 people.
