Memory loss bride recreates first wedding

A US bride has enjoyed the thrill of her wedding day for a second time after a rare medical condition wiped her memories of her first big day.

Almost everything had gone to plan when Amanda and Cody Karth first tied the knot in Florida 10 months ago.

"It was fabulous," Mr Karth told Inside Edition.

"It was everything you could ever want in a wedding and it was the best day of my life."

But unfortunately Mrs Karth remembers nothing of the first time.

Just before sunrise the next day, Mr Karth woke up to see his new wife struggling to breath.

"I just grabbed her, 'What's wrong? What's wrong? What's wrong?" Mr Karth said.

Mrs Karth passed out on the bed and when paramedics arrived they could not find a pulse.

She was shocked back to life and rushed to hospital, where doctors later declared it was the rare medical phenomenon known as "broken heart syndrome" that caused her to have a dysfunctional heart.

After four days she miraculously recovered – but the memories of her first dance, cutting the cake and exchanging vows had been lost forever.

Her family has gone to incredible lengths to recreate the big day, which included Mrs Karth smearing wedding cake across her husband's face for a second time.

The only difference in the special repeated ceremony was a few additional guests in the form of the paramedics who saved Mrs Karth's life the first time she was married.
