A Florida man poured hot sauce on a three-month-old puppy because he was "annoyed" by the yelping sounds it was making during a seizure, police claim.

Ephrian Myles, 47, was charged with aggravated animal cruelty after he allegedly covered Gizmo, his girlfriend's dachshund/Chihuahua mix, with the hot sauce, reports TBO.com.

The puppy's owner took him to a fire station for help after the sauce spread into the animal's eyes and throat.

When police arrived, Gizmo's eyes were swollen shut and he was having difficulty breathing.

Officers washed the dog with water then turned him over to animal welfare authorities.

Police allegedly found hot sauce on the floor of the girlfriend's home, which Myles denied knowing about.

Gizmo, who has a history of seizures, is expected to recover from his hot sauce drenching.
