Large dock fire steals limelight from US Open

A large dock fire has stolen the limelight from the world's greatest golfers during the third round of the US Open on Sunday.

Midway through the round with the leaders, including Australia's Jason Day, fighting for supremacy in the year's second major, a large haze of smoke was caught rising over the Chambers Bay course.

Footage of the blaze shows a large building with flames licking up its side and thick, black smoke billowing up into the air.

The dark column is captured again and again on the horizon as coverage swings from one contender to another.

Later video then shows firefighters battling the blaze in an attempt to save the building and prevent the fire from spreading.

There have been no reports of any injuries.
