Kiteboarder dragged along rocky beach

Kiteboarding is clearly becoming a popular endeavour, but a sudden updraft can mean things can go very wrong, very fast.

The moment US man Ramin Afshar was dragged across sharp rocks on the side of a lake has been captured on his own GoPro camera.

The video shows him grinning as he rides at speed on a lake.

But as he comes to a rest at the shore, a sudden gust of wind lifts him off the ground without his board, then pulls him along the rocky beach.

"Big Kite + Gusty wind + Updraft = OUCH!" he wrote on his Vimeo account.

The crash happened three years ago on the first day Mr Afshar attached a camera to his line, but he only shared the video yesterday.
