Internet has its way with hastily withdrawn Trump/Pence logo

Donald Trump's campaign has replaced a widely-mocked logo advertising the billionaire's partnership with his recently-named running mate, Mike Pence, with a less risqué design.

The original Trump/Pence emblem was comprised of an intertwined "T" and "P", which many online judged to have something of a carnal overtone.

Twitter users turned out to ridicule the ill-considered symbol with lusty abandon, with many echoing the sentiment of freelance writer Sergio Grant, who opined that "what the T+P are doing there is probably considered illegal in at least 14 red states."

Some went so far as to create gif animations of the logo, just in case passers-by stood any chance of remaining oblivious to the innuendo, while others managed to lambast the design in a slightly more topical fashion.

Trump's appointment of Pence, who is the governor of Indiana, appears to be a bid by the presidential hopeful to win back ultra-conservative voters wary of his alleged philandering ways and "greed is good" credo.

In officially announcing his appointment yesterday Trump claimed that Pence, an anti-abortion, anti-gay crusader born to play the straight man, was his "first choice" as running mate.
