Great-grandfather picks up wrong child from school

An elderly man had no clue he had picked up the wrong great-grandchild from school – until he got home and his wife eyeballed the little boy.

The 79-year-old was filling in for his granddaughter and went to pick up his great-grandson at the Sterling Community school in Connecticut.

It's understood that the child the man accidentally picked up was of the same build as his great-grandson, was wearing the same kind of hat and lived on the same street.

While they were in the car, the young boy, Everette Stone, told the man "I live on Pine Hill Road!", to which he replied "I know you live on Pine Hill Road but your mum is sick so you have to come to my house," the youngster's father, Derek Stone, told the New York Post.

When the boy refused to get out of the car after the man pulled into his driveway, he dragged his wife out to investigate.

"So the man goes into the house and gets his wife, who took my son's hat off, and said 'Hey you have the wrong kid,' then they called the school," said Mr Stone.

Instead of notifying police, the school told the elderly man just to "bring him back".

Mr Stone is now pushing for a police investigation into why the school chose to deal with the matter internally rather than notifying authorities.
