In the words of the 1997 film Cop Land: "Every precinct has its cop bar – a private club – all blue".

And two dumb and unlucky robbers tried an armed heist on one outside of Baltimore, Maryland, when it happened to be full of off-duty officers.

Officers were hosting a retirement party for one of their own at Monaghan's Pub on Tuesday when Joseph McInnis III, 21, and Tyree McCoy, 22, entered and allegedly tried to rob the joint.

"I'm sure that they weren't planning on there being a large room filled with police officers," Officer Jennifer Peach told WBAL TV.

The off-duty police were alerted that a robbery had just taken place, and McInnis and McCoy found themselves being chased by a large contingent of officers.

"It's kind of odd you would even attempt it," Monaghan's owner Jack Milani told the Baltimore Sun.

"(Officers) are always in here."

Nobody was injured during the robbery, but the bloody mugshot indicates that McCoy may have, ahem, tripped, during his arrest.

They were charged with armed robbery and possession of a handgun and denied bail.
