Flyboarder becomes human fire extinguisher to save boat

A US man has turned his flyboard into a fire extinguisher by hovering over a burning boat in Minnesota.

Spectators watched as Jesse Gavic, whose father owns Sky High Flyboard, carefully maneuvered himself over the top of the boat after noticing the cabin was on fire, Fox 9 reports.

Invented in 2012 by a French water-craft rider, Franky Zapata, flyboards allow users to hover above the surface of the water and reach heights of up to 15 metres.

The 22-year-old made flying passes over the smoking boat using water propelled from his flyboard to douse the flames.

The owner of the boat dived into to the water and swam to a nearby pontoon.

While the vessel was unfortunately damaged by the fire, Gavic's impressive manoeuvre prevented the boat from being completely destroyed.
