FBI and police raid home of Subway spokesman Jared Fogle

Police and the FBI have raided the Indiana home of Subway spokesman Jared Fogle in what is believed to be part of a child pornography investigation.

Members of the Indiana State Police and the FBI were seen carrying electronics from Fogle's home in Zionsville, which were then analysed inside a mobile forensics van, The Indianapolis Star reports.

An FBI spokeswoman confirmed a criminal investigation was being conducted in the area, but referred questions to the US Attorney's office, which in turn declined to comment.

The raid comes two months after Russell Taylor, the director of Fogle's foundation, was arrested on federal child pornography charges.

Taylor attempted suicide in prison on May 6 and was placed on life support, but his health has since improved and he is in the custody of the US Marshals Service.

Fogle became famous as the face of Subway, after he lost more than 100kg in weight by eating the chain's low-fat sandwiches in the late 1990s.

After Taylor's arrest Fogle issued a statement saying he was "shocked" at the allegations and that the Jared Foundation was severing all ties with him.
