Dust storm engulfs construction crew in west Texas

A construction crew in Texas has been caught up in a powerful dust storm that threatened to blow them off their feet.

The workers in the town of Pecos were filmed struggling to stand as they battled against wind gusts of more than 90km/h.

The cameraman laughed and sighed in awe as the dust and sand became so thick in the air it was impossible to see more than a few metres.

The dust storm came as part of a high-wind weather event which struck parts of Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma.

The wind in Pecos has since dropped dramatically.
