Driver under the influence nearly crashes full school bus

Panicked parents and concerned motorists called 911 as an allegedly drugged-up US bus driver swerved around the road with 67 schoolchildren on-board.

Dashcam footage shows the bus veering from lane to lane and edging towards the median strip about 8am on Monday.

Police have released audio of the frantic calls made by other drivers and a parent on the bus to report Lycia Martinez's behavior.

"Whoever is driving this thing can't maintain a lane," one 911 caller said.

"Oh my hell — I don't get scared very easily, but my heart is pounding," said another.

Utah Highway Patrol officers believe Martinez, 37, had taken prescription anti-anxiety or muscle relaxer pills before taking to the wheel.

She has worked as a bus driver for the school district for six years and has no prior incidents.

She has been placed on paid administrative leave.
