Articles of impeachment filed against Donald Trump amid calls to invoke the 25th Amendment
A prominent Democratic congressman has filed articles of impeachment against Donald Trump over his actions against Iran.
John Larson filed 13 articles to remove the president from office.
"Donald Trump has blown past every requirement to be removed from office. And it's getting worse," Larson said in a statement.

"His illegal war in Iran is not only driving up prices for American families — it has cost American lives."
The 77-year-old Connecticut Democrat said the president is becoming "more unhinged".
"He's becoming more unstable by the day," he said.
"His profane and sacrilegious Easter Sunday and subsequent threats, including 'a whole civilisation will die' and 'open the Strait…or you'll be living in hell' not only foreshadow war crimes, but put our security at risk."
Impeachment is a complex procedure to remove a president (or other public official) from power.
If the impeachment articles pass a simple majority in the House of Representatives, it would take a two-thirds vote in the Senate to remove Trump from power.
Republicans control both chambers in Congress, making removal highly unlikely.

Meanwhile other Democrats are talking about invoking the 25th Amendment, which would lead to an immediate removal of Trump from office.
"If Trump's cabinet had one shred of integrity left, they'd immediately invoke the 25th amendment and take the nuclear codes away from the madman sitting in the Oval Office," Congressman Jim McGovern said.
"Donald Trump is unstable, dangerous, and unable to function as Commander in Chief. His illegal war in Iran needs to end and he must be removed immediately. It's time to invoke the 25th Amendment," said Congresswoman Lauren Underwood.
The 25th Amendment would require the vice president and a majority of the cabinet to determine the president is not able to do his job.
Congress would then have 48 hours to vote in support. It would take a two-thirds vote in both chambers to remove Trump.

Unlike impeachment, the 25th Amendment does not require proof of "high crimes and misdemeanours" to remove a president.
Democrats were specifically outraged by Trump's comments overnight warning that "a whole civilisation will die tonight".
US forces struck two bridges and a train station in Iran, as well as the valuable oil hub Kharg Island.
Democrats are demanding Speaker Mike Johnson call the House back into session for votes on the war.
