'Rape fantasy' details admissible in War Machine's attempted murder trial

Jurors at the trial of a MMA fighter accused of nearly beating his porn actress girlfriend to death will hear evidence about her discussing a rape fantasy with him.

Jonathan Koppenhaver, better known as War Machine, is accused of sexually assaulting and bashing Christine Mackinday, aka Christy Mack, almost to death, as well as bashing her friend Corey Thomas.

Late last week Nevada judge Elissa Cadish ruled Mackinday's prior discussion of a rape fantasy with Koppenhaver was admissible evidence, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

"I did actually ask him to play out a rape fantasy one time but it never came to fruition," she told a pre-trial hearing.

"I wouldn't want to have an actual rape happen."

Koppenhaver's defence lawyer Brandon Sua also asked Mackinday if she had said to Koppenhaver that "real men rape".

"That was a joke between us," she replied.

"That was a pretty common slogan for him to say, and yes, I would repeat it back to him."

In August 2014 Koppenhaver allegedly forced his way into Mackinday's Las Vegas house then punched and choked Thomas for about 10 minutes.

Koppenhaver then allegedly raped and bashed Mackinday, breaking bones in her face, knocking out two teeth, lacerating her liver, breaking her ribs and causing a blowout fracture of her left eye.

Koppenhaver faces life in prison without parole if found guilty during the trial which begins next month.
