Shooting during Chris Brown performance leaves five injured

Singer Chris Brown was performing at a California night club when a gunman opened fire injuring five people overnight.

Brown was on stage at the San Jose nightspot in the early hours of Sunday morning when gunshots suddenly rang out.

The attack sent clubbers into a panic as well as Brown who was shielded by his bodyguards as he made a hasty retreat from the stage.

Four clubgoers were rushed to hospital while another patient arrived in the emergency room a short time later.

Police said they had detained a number of people but it is unclear if any arrests have been made.
