Castro's neighbour guilty of rape and murder
A man who lived in the same street as Cleveland kidnapper Ariel Castro has been convicted of murder and repeatedly raping his three daughters.
Castro's neighbour Elias Acevedo Sr has been sentenced to 445 years in jail without hope of parole after he pleaded guilty to hundreds of charges spanning two decades.
Acevedo, who was picked up during the police investigation into Ariel Castro, exposed his own daughters to decades of sexual abuse as well as committing other rapes and murders.
In 1993, he raped his sister-in-law who was five months pregnant with his brother's child at the time.
"You have changed my life forever," one daughter said during the sentencing, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
"You robbed me of my childhood...I have lived in fear but I will no longer."
Acevedo also pleaded guilty to kidnapping and killing Christina Adkins in 1995 and Pamela Pemberton in 1994.
Pemberton was reportedly raped and strangled to death after refusing to have sex with Acevedo, the court heard.
Acevedo was picked up after police found the registered sex offender had not reported his new Cleveland address.
