Burglar wearing face paint brazenly robbed a home while a family slept

A US burglar has been filmed stopping to make a sandwich as she nonchalantly ransacked a house while the occupants slept.

Michelle Phelps and her husband had no idea that while they were sleeping in their Oregon home on Thursday night, 24-year-old Tanisha Camille Mann was raiding their belongings.

Home security footage shows the young woman - who was in possession of methamphetamines when she was arrested – wearing face paint as walked through the family's home.

At one point Mann even stopped in the kitchen to make herself a sandwich.

"It's scary to not know what's in the dark and she just strolled around like she knew what was in the dark," Phelps told ABC7 as she watched the haunting footage.

"The time it comes really alive is at night when you close your eyes. Anytime you close your eyes, the video of her walking down the hallway is so haunting."

Local police arrested Mann and charged her with multiple burglary offences.
