Man shot dead by police inside US library

Police have fatally shot a man inside a public library in the US state of New Jersey.
Two officers are believed to have opened fire after a confrontation with the suspect, named by local prosecutors as Kevin K. Allen, 36.
Emergency services were called to the Lyndhurst Public Library, in the state's north, after reports Allen was armed with a knife.
He was shot on the top floor of the library at around 2:30pm local time (4:30am AEST), police said.
Allen was wanted for contempt of court and was previously jailed in 2007 on sexual offences.
Locals reported seeing police storm the building with guns drawn.
Several people, including a young child, witnessed the shooting.
Two police officers were taken to hospital for shock.
