Another black church in the US has caught ablaze and is burning to the ground — the seventh to catch fire since last month's racist mass shooting in Charleston.

Fire crews are currently battling a fire at the Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church in Greeleyville, South Carolina, where the flames are said to be spreading through the roof.

It is not currently know how the fire started.

The house of worship featured recently in a Los Angeles Times article about the history of violent attacks on America's black churches.

It was torched in 1995 by the Ku Klux Klan.

Mount Zion church is about one hour drive from Charleston where last month a 21-year-old white supremacist is accused of entering a the historic Emanuel African AME Church and shooting nine members of the black congregation in a Bible study session.

The Mount Zion church fire is the seventh to start at a black church in the past two weeks.

So far only three have been attributed to arson and possibly linked to fallout from the Charleston shooting.
