US voters don't trust Trump when it comes to North Korea: report

US President Donald Trump has reportedly lost favour with American voters, with a large percentage believing he would not handle North Korea responsibly.

Mr Trump has hit a hurdle among voters with a news poll claiming 62 percent of those surveyed do not trust him when it comes to dealing with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

According to the results of a Langer Research Associates poll, commissioned by ABC News, 84 percent of Americans see Jong-un’s nation as a threat, with 70 percent believing it is a serious threat.

In terms of how to deal with North Korea, 76 percent support tougher sanctions, while 39 percent believe in discontinuing joint US-South Korean military exercises, the report claims.

It also claims Mr Trump has the lowest approval rating of any president at eight months in office for 71 years, with just 39 percent of Americans in favour of his performance as leader.

The result sees the billionaire real estate mogul’s approval rating the lowest for any president since Harry S Truman.

It also claims 66 percent of voting Americans believe Mr Trump has done more to divide the country than unite it.

On immigration, 62 percent disapprove of the president’s work, while 56 percent approved his handling of the recent hurricanes that struck regions of the US.
