US high school students recreate graduation for classmate released from coma after car crash

Students from East Juniata High School in McAlisterville, Pennsylvania, have re-created their graduation to honour one of their classmates who recently awoke from a medically-induced coma.

Scott Dunn was in a horrific car accident, and his injuries meant he missed his graduation last month, so his classmates repeated the celebrations for him.

The principal, Benjamin Fausey, told ABC news US the heart-warming gesture last week involved students circling around him after the second ceremony and throwing their caps into the air.

“All the students were excited in their graduation gowns and caps again,” Mr Fausey told the news program.

Mr Dunn said seeing the same traditions happen for him left him “speechless”.
