US centenarian still works 11 hours per day, six days per week

We might grumble each time the retirement age is raised, but for one extraordinary US woman, even reaching 100 hasn’t stopped her.

Felimina ‘Minnie’ Rotundo still works 11 hours a day, six days a week managing a laundromat in Buffalo, New York, which she joined in the mid 1950s.

Her son, Gary, joked to ABC News in the US even at the age of 74 he can’t retire because his centenarian mother would put him to shame.

He said she credits her incredible work ethic to her longevity.

"Honestly, she’s pretty amazing. She’s sharper than me, no question about it," he said.

His mother works from 7am until 6pm, Monday through Saturday, at the College Landry Shoppe.

Mr Rotundo also said she was healthy, switched on, and still able to drive.

"She still handles all the operations at the laundromat. If you’ve ever met her, you’d understand that her whole persona is just very upbeat and positive," he said.
