Ukrainian television station release CCTV from arson attack

A violent attack has forced a Ukrainian television station to shut down after vigilantes stormed in to cause havoc for the perceived pro-Russian bias of the media outlet.

Activists have been camping outside the entrance of Inter TV's Kiev headquarters since it was attacked on Sunday, which they have obscured with tyres.

Paramilitary-style activists can also been seen assisting new protesters in setting up tents.

Inter TV released CCTV footage of Sunday's arson attack yesterday.

The video shows unidentified people obscured by thick smoke.

The activists are seen storming the building wearing black jackets with white safety helmets and white dust masks.

The group gain entry by blasting fire extinguishers at security guards in the TV station's lobby.

They then appear to break off into different groups and continue storming the building, fire extinguishers in hand.

Fire retardant then obscures footage from the stationary security cameras.

Six people have since been arrested.

Inter TV says some staff required hospital treatment for smoke inhalation and one suffered a broken leg while fleeing the fire.

Local news outlets reported the fire started after a crowd of around 20 protesters gathered outside the television station and started setting tyres on fire, according to The Guardian.

Protests about Inter TV's reportedly pro-Kremlin position have been ongoing since Sunday.

On Monday, protesters staged a new protest in which they blocked the building's entrance and demanded changes to the management.

On Tuesday, they claimed to have reached an agreement with Inter TV, a claim denied by the company.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has instructed the country's prosecutor general to personally oversee an investigation into the arson attack.
