Video shows terrified female politician doused in oil by attackers

Newly released video shows the moment a former politician feared she would be set on fire after being doused in oil by a gang in Ukraine.

Irina Komissar, 31, had just stepped out of her car when she was grabbed by the group of balaclava-clad men in Zaporozhye in the country's southeast.

The footage shows Ms Komissar, the city's former official of internal politics and information, unable to speak and wide-eyed as the thugs pour what looks like flammable liquid over her head.

"I thought they were going to pour it on me and set me alight," she later told to police.

"I was so terrified I didn't even scream … I just didn't know what to say or do."

But after covering Ms Komissar in oil, the masked men instead tipped a bag of feathers over her head.

As they fled the scene, they left her with the message: "Glory to the Ukraine."

The group filmed the attack later posted it online warning a similar fate would come to politicians who followed the wrong path.

They also warned Ms Komissar to get out of town or face more violent attacks.

The men are reported to be from the same group behind earlier viral videos showing masked men kidnapping politicians and throwing them in rubbish bins.
