Spanish police search for 'idiot with mobile'

Police in Pamplona are searching for a man who broke the law by taking a selfie only centimetres away from charging bulls during the city's annual festival.

Spanish media filmed the man as he took the selfie in front of several bulls as they ran through Pamplona's streets during the San Fermin festival on Friday.

Under new rules designed to stamp out dangerous behaviour, using recording devices during the bull runs is illegal.

The man was recorded taking the photo as the runners rounded a corner in front of the pursuant bulls.

The image of the man has circulated on social media, trending under the hashtag #eltontolmóvil which translates to "idiot with the mobile".

"The main problem is the lack of respect for others," wrote one Twitter user.

"One of the best examples of human stupidity I remember," said another.

The man faces a fine of up to $434.

The festival, which traces back to the 13th century, has become a worldwide attraction in recent years but has led to the deaths of 15 people since record-keeping began in the 1900s.
