At least 14 schools in Britain and five in Paris have been evacuated due to bomb threats.

Thousands of students were forced to leave their schools a week after some were targeted in a similar threat.

Six schools in Birmingham, four in London and four in Cornwall in England's southwest were cordoned off and searched.

The Metropolitan Police said the threats were being treated as "malicious communications".

In Paris police bomb squads were searching the schools as students waited in courtyards and on the streets, Le Parisien reported, and some traffic was diverted.

French broadcasters reported that six schools were being searched, but a police spokesman declined to give details.

Paris has been under high alert due to a series of terrorist attacks that began in January 2015, and France has been in a state of emergency since the latest attacks in November.
