2014's arrival seen from the sky

It's the side of New Year's celebrations and fireworks that we normally do not see.

A creative photographer in Norway got a bird's eye view of a town celebrating the arrival 2014 by attaching cameras and stabilizers to two remote-controlled helicopters with, sending them into the night sky.

Photographer Øystein Lunde Ingvaldsen flew his drones over the town of Sortland when the clock struck midnight.

The dark skies above the town are illuminated with bright and glittering brocades, fired from backyards throughout the neighbourhood .

Some of the flashing comets come so close they almost shoot the drones down from the sky.

"It's a risk you take. But I like that the equipment being used and took a chance," Mr Ingvaldsen said.

And what a colourful gambit it was.
