Model criticised for being too thin reveals she was anorexic

A Scottish model who was so thin advertising images of her were banned after being deemed "socially irresponsible" has for the first time admitted that she battled anorexia.

Amanda Hendrick made the revelation in a heartfelt YouTube Q&A published on March 29.

The 25-year-old who shot to fame when a campaign for the Drop Dead Clothing range was banned by Britain's Advertising Standards in 2011 said she had suffered from anorexia for four years.

"I was in complete denial the entire time," she said.

"I didn't even realise I had a problem."

Hendrick said she was "angry all the time" while she was afflicted by the eating disorder and whenever her friends or family tried to talk to her about it she would "just scream in their face".

She said she decided to "change" when she realised her anorexia was not only destroying her body but also her mind and relationships.

"I was just destroying my life," Hendrick said.

When Hendrick was at the centre of the banned Drop Dead campaign she denied she had an eating disorder.

"I look after myself because my body is a temple," Hendrick said at the time.

"I can put away more food than most people I know.

"I want to be a positive role model and to continue doing well in my job so I have to make sure I have a healthy and nutritious diet."
