Lost seal pups entertains locals in Swedish town

A baby seal has become a tourist attraction in a small Swedish seaside city after losing its way.

The pup was found crying in the harbour of Sundsvall on Sweden's mid-east coast, BBC News reports.

It is not unusual for baby seals to be abandoned at a young age, with many left by their mothers at just several weeks old to fend for themselves.

"When the seal has the right fur it jumps into the sea and begins to hunt for fish," wildlife officer Lars Wiklund said.

"It is programmed to do it, so it doesn't miss its mother."

Mr Wikilund has warned locals not to get too close to the seal as it has sharp teeth and will bite.
