London department store put Christmas decorations on display - 143 days early

Summer has not yet come to an end in the Northern Hemisphere but one British store has already started celebrating Christmas.

London chain Selfridges launched its Christmas displays yesterday in four stores, a full 143 days before December 25.

Geraldine James, a spokesperson for Selfridges, told Metro the store wants to grab the attention of tourists before they return home.

“We have so many customers visiting from all over the world and eager to snap up festive souvenirs on their summer holidays, which they can’t buy at home,” she said.

“So we have to make sure we’re ready to showcase Christmas decoration they will truly treasure.”

The cheery displays have had a mixed response on social media.
